The collection consists of personal and literary papers of W.B. Yeats from 1875-1965, with the bulk between 1890-1939. The collection contains literary manuscripts and typescripts of Yeats' poetry and plays with corrections, deletions, and additions. The correspondence discusses Yeats' poetic and dramatic works, Irish politics, the Abbey Theatre, and personal life. Major correspondents include Lady Gregory, T. Werner Laurie, and J.B. O'Connell. In addition, the collection includes sketches, lithographs, and photographs of Yeats, family, and friends. The collection also consists of selected papers of individuals closely associated with Yeats, such as the English poet Dorothy Wellesley, with whom Yeats corresponded and worked.

English poet Dorothy Wellesley was born in Berkshire and privately educated. She began writing poetry at an early age, and her first published volume brought her the admiration and friendship of Yeats, with whom she remained close.
